NFB/Subject Matter Inc., Toronto, Canada
In 2005 the National Film Board of Canada approached me and three colleagues to produce a narrative web site documenting a new pilot project they were launching. The project embedded renowned documentary filmmaker, Katerina Cizek, inside St. Michael's - a leading Toronto Hospital - for a year. The idea was to find out how a filmmaker could impact their operations.
Our team followed her progress for a year, producing a rich, multimedia story site that led users through her experiences and introducing them to a number of the hospital's innovative inner-city and global health initiatives. We also developed media applications for the project that facilitated communication between hospital staff and patients, and provided opportunities for hospital staff and patients to engage in Cizek's revolutionary brand of participatory media.
ROLES:
Co-developed the site's narrative concept.
Designed information architecture.
Developed client proposals and creative briefs.
Developed project budgets and timelines.
Lead creative writer.
Coordinated photojournalism.
Consulted on interface design and technical development.
