About the Work: Canada Code was an interactive exploration of Canada leading up to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This is an Olympic first - asking a nation to share moments of their everyday lives that, together, tell a collective story of Canada.

Weaving in the visual concept of DNA coding, the site features a unique data visualization interface that focuses on the exploration and discovery of content uploaded by users. The content of the site (the Canada CODE) is created by individual interactions as users view, upload, explore and remix the content that is shared. The more users interact with the site, the bigger it gets.

Each person who uploads and interacts with the site creates a personal "code," which then becomes part of the larger Canada CODE. In the end, the entire site will be an archival record, or snapshot, of Canada and Canadians during the months of the campaign.
